Tom completes challenge for Prostate Cancer UK
Tom Chedham, Customer Services Manager at The BDR Group, recently participated in the ‘Football to Amsterdam’ cycle ride, to raise money for the charity Prostate Cancer UK.
The 145 mile cycle ride from London to Amsterdam (including a ferry crossing from Harwich to Rotterdam) took two full days to complete and the course between the two bustling capitals followed a challenging route through some of the most beautiful countryside and coastal areas both countries have to offer.
Football to Amsterdam 2016 is backed by The Football League and the League Managers Association. Every rider who participates makes a commitment to raise a minimum of £1,000.
Tom successfully completed the 145 mile event which, when in Amsterdam, culminates in an after event party in Dam Square at which participants are able to celebrate their achievements and relax with fellow comrades.
Titus Bramble, Viv Anderson, Luther Blissett and Terry Butcher were just some of the celebrities who participated in the event which in total raised a staggering £550,000 for this worthy cause. To date Tom has raised an admirable £700, to which BDR have generously donated an additional £100.
Of the experience Tom said: “It was probably one of the hardest things that I have ever taken part in, but the atmosphere was amazing. I am a little tired and sunburnt but feel very, very accomplished”. He continued: “I would definitely take the challenge again, the support I have had has been brilliant and I’d like to personally thank everyone who has donated and sponsored me. This is a great cause and I feel humbled to have been part of such a great event”.
Well done Tom!
